Black Liquor to Fuel (BL2F) Project Develops Innovation HTL Technology for Advanced Biofuels
Short Introductive summary
BL2F project aims to pilot a one-of-a-kind Integrated HydroThermal Liquefaction (IHTL) at the pulp mills, to develop a fuel intermediate for further upgrading in oil refineries. Launched in April 2020, BL2F is a H2020 European project that brings together partners from all over Europe to develop a high-quality, drop-in biofuel to be used in the aviation and shipping sectors. The consortium consists of a mix of partners from research, industrial and innovation backgrounds. BL2F is also supported by a number of key organisations to help achieve the projects’ goals.

Presenter's biography
Dr. Joronen is working currently for Valmet and Tampere University (TAU). At Valmet he works as Energy R&D Manager for new technology monitoring. At TAU he works as an Industry Professor, leading several energy related research projects. He has over 20 years of experience on industrial R&D.
