Biography
He has been an advocate for the global bio-economy for twenty-five years. He is the President of Leatherstocking LLC, a clean-technology consulting firm and also the co-Chair of the federal biomass research and development advisory committee. Doug served President George W. Bush in senior political posts at both the U.S. Departments of Agriculture and Energy from 2001-2009. He was a leading negotiator then for the new U.S.-Brazil biofuels partnership and for the launch of the Global Bioenergy Partnership. In the late 1990s as a senior civil servant he started a new federal research program for bio-based products. Doug holds a BA in Asian Studies from the University of Illinois and a MA from The Johns Hopkins University, School of Advanced International Studies. He also was a Rotary International scholar and the first American student at the University of Singapore.
