Effect of PGPR Application on Lignocellulosic Crops Yield for Advanced Biofuels

Short Introductive summary

Lignocellulosic crops yield for sustainable aviation fuel production could be significantly increased by applying plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR). PGPR are a group of beneficial bacteria that live in the rhizosphere and play important functions for plant nutrition. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the yields of five dedicated lignocellulosic crops under two different PGPR application methods compared to an untreated control, to provide sustainable and low-cost feedstock solutions. The chosen PGPR has been successfully used in horticulture and proved to dramatically increase yields, even though no information are available on its effect on lignocellulosic crops.
