Statistical Modelling of Advanced Dual Fluidised Bed Steam Gasification in Demonstration Scale

Short Introductive summary

The advanced dual fluidised bed steam gasification offers thermochemical conversion of biomass residues and waste materials into a versatile product gas. As part of the ongoing technology development, BEST operates a 1 MWth demonstration plant at the Syngas Platform Vienna. This step represents the test in an industrial environment and focuses on improving process reliability, product versatility and conversion efficiency. To further deepen the understanding of the technology and facilitate operation, a design of experiments approach to statistically model the reactor system has been implemented. It aims to demonstrate the effects and interactions of operating parameters and ease the adjustment of operating points. A parameter variation was conducted to build the statistical model, which showed good alignment with findings from previous experiments and exhibits promising results to further accompany this step of technology development.
