Biorefinery Electrification of Brewers’ Spent Grains For Efficient Production of Poly(3-Hydroxybutyrate) and Biological Recycling of Post-Consumer Bioplastics

Short Introductive summary

• DBD non-thermal plasma treatment of brewers’ spent grains in order to enchance the enzymatic hydrolysis of cellulose and hemicellulose. • Fed-batch bioreactor feremntations with Paraburkholderia sacchari DSM 17165 using BSG hydrolysate after plasma treatment as a carbon and nutrient source. • Alkaline degradation of PHB using NaOH solutions. • Shake flasks fermentations using the PHB hydrolysate produced after alakline degradation as carbon source for the production of new PHB.
