Comparison of Hydrothermal Carbonization and Slow Pyrolysis Followed by Chemical Leaching for Carbon and Phosphorus Recovery from Sewage Sludge

Short Introductive summary

The first objective of the proposed work is to assess the potentials and the barriers of HTC and chemical leaching process as a thermo-chemical treatment system to turn sewage sludge into three intermediate products: a water phase rich in organic compounds, a solid carbonaceous product, and a P-rich liquid. Secondly, this study aims at comparing the integrated HTC-leaching process with the slow pyrolysis and chemical leaching integrated solution, whose application to sewage sludge generates a solid carbonaceous product, and a P-rich liquid
