Biomethane Market Dynamics & Framework Conditions in Europe (the project GreenMeUp)

Short Introductive summary

The aim of this work is to report on good practices and lessons learnt from countries having the highest market shares covering 95% of biomethane produced in Europe (Germany, UK, Denmark, France, The Netherlands, Italy, Sweden, Norway, Switzerland and Austria) and from a set of target countries with lower development rates in biomethane production (Greece, Spain, Poland, Latvia, Estonia and Czech Republic). A set of Mission Innovation countries (USA, Canada, China, Brazil and India) participating in the International Advisory Board (IAB) is to assure an additional flow of information on biomethane production lessons-learnt, enablers and barriers. The ultimate target is to be able to design country-tailored policy measures for the market uptake of the biomethane market in the target countries (e.g regulations, financial mechanisms and actions related to increased awareness and improved public acceptance).
