High-Yield Production of Aromatic Monomers by Pyrolysis-Assisted Catalytic Conversion of Softwood Lignin

Short Introductive summary

Lignin-derived products have been effectively stabilized by catalytic hydrogenation of the product radicals and unsaturated side chains, even in the absence of H2, because the lignin side-chain generates reactive hydrogen species. The pyrolytically stable C–C bonds are also catalytically cleaved, yielding aromatic monomers in excess of 60 mol% (based on lignin aromatic rings).

Presenter's biography

My research background is organic and synthetic chemistry, and now I am working on the molecular mechanisms of the chemical reactions which occur during the pyrolysis of lignocellulosic biomass.
