Phytoremediation of Contaminated Lands: Thermochemical Conversion Routes for Clean Biofuels

Short Introductive summary

The GOLD project aims to bridge the gap between phytoremediation techniques for cultivating energy crops on contaminated lands and the production of clean biofuels via: (a) optimizing selected high-yield lignocellulosic energy crops for phytoremediation that target different classes of soil pollutants, (b) developing appropriate conversion methods for producing clean liquid biofuels utilizing biomass generated in polluted lands, and (c) conducting integrated sustainability assessments of selected value chains for biofuels production and land decontamination.
