Catalytic Valorisation of Furans to Aromatics over Modified Zeolites

Short Introductive summary

The growing demand for a sustainable chemical industry can be satisfied by utilizing renewable carbon sources like lignocellulosic biomass. One interesting model reaction is the conversion of biomass-derived furans into valuable aromatic building blocks such as benzene, toluene, and xylenes (BTX). Microporous solid acid catalysts, such as zeolites and zeotypes, are employed for their readily tuneable acidity and porosity, for example through incorporation of metals.
