Biography

Andreas Geß holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Stuttgart and is a researcher in the group “Energy and Mobility” of the Department Life Cycle Engineering (GaBi) at the Fraunhofer Institute for Building Physics (IBP) since the beginning of 2019. Within the research team, he is dealing with the holistic sustainability assessment of transport and mobility concepts, alternative fuels as well as renewable energy systems. He is currently working on the life cycle assessment of the design process of aircraft and the prognostic LCA of future vehicle concepts. He conducts economic evaluations like Life Cycle Costing (LCC) or Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) analysis for various production systems. In addition, he investigates the possible carbon capture and utilization (CCU) of algae-based materials and the effects on biodiversity of using marginal lands for crop cultivation. Previously, he conducted a LCA, land use and biodiversity impact analysis on lamb meat production systems as well as on insulating materials from renewable resources. His master thesis on inclusion of biodiversity impact analyzes in LCA was also carried out at the GaBi department.
