Biofuel and biomethane policies
Navigating Net Zero - Designing Biomass Policy for Tackling the Climate, Ecological, and Energy Emergencies
Short Introductive summary
In 2019, the UK became the first country to declare a climate and ecological emergency, following an upsurge of environmental movements catalysed by millions of young people. The change in law signalled the need to go further and faster than before to halt rising global temperatures by decoupling our economies from fossil fuels. But how has the development of net zero on the political agenda impacted the deployment of bioenergy systems? And how does this impact the benefits of using biomass in the future? This presentation will present the analysis of data gathered from interviewing UK biomass and bioenergy experts, highlighting key considerations for future biomass policy design when tackling the climate, ecological, and energy emergencies we face.
