HTL Kinetic Model Development: The Particular Case of Micro-Algae
Short Introductive summary
The objective of this work is the development of a comprehensive kinetic model for the HTL conversion of micro-algal biomass based on its biochemical composition. We have had the opportunity to study two different Chlorella species produced at CEA team Cadarache under different conditions so that we had different initial microalgae biochemical compositions for Chlorella vulgaris and Chlorella sorokiniana. An experimental kinetic study was performed in a batch reactor between 200 and 350°C and with different residence times between 0 and 30min for several microalgae aliquots. A simplified chemical mechanism is proposed for the microalgae biomass conversion and the kinetic parameters were determined by a mathematical optimisation procedure on a set of experiments. The model predictions are compared with the full set of experimental data. Results in term of accuracy is in a correct range with a correlation coefficient value of 0.73.
