Improvement of biomass conversion technologies to advanced biofuels
Biogas Conversion to Green Methanol Via Steam Reforming iin a Container-Sized Module
Short Introductive summary
This project presents a container-sized reactor module, which is designed to convert biogas and renewable hydrogen into green methanol with minimal carbon dioxide emissions, demonstrating a breakthrough in complete CH4 and CO2 utilization for methanol production. The container-sized module, tested at the Lemvig Biogas site in Denmark, utilizes a novel Ni-Zr-based catalyst for steam reforming biogas into syngas, subsequently converting it to methanol over a standard Cu-based catalyst. Initial results from laboratory and pilot-scale tests showcase high purity and catalytic stability in methanol production, positioning this technology as a promising and environmentally friendly alternative for sustainable biofuel production.
