Assessment of Recoverable Biomass Potential for a Stand-Alone Small Scale Gasification Plant
Short Introductive summary
Within the framework of a national project aimed at the development of an integrated hybrid plant based on only renewable sources, such as residual biomass and solar energy, activities related to the status of bioenergy in the Basilicata Region were carried out. The work was complemented by the definition of guideline addressing logistic aspects for feedstocks supply to a selected process site. The hybrid unit targeted by the project is based on a small-scale gasification plant and is intended to encourage the spread of stand-alone and customized CHP production. To the achievement of such goal assessing the local availability of residual biomass is in fact crucial. According to the achieved results, three promising areas were identified respect to potentiality of supply and type of feedstocks. Moreover, based on the technical performance of gasification unit of reference, the potential number of plants that could be installed was calculated.
