The Evaluation of Bioactivities of Bauhinia Purpurea Extracts

Short Introductive summary

The bioactivity studies of Bauhinia purpurea extracts from leaf, seed and bark were analyzed for the growth inhibition of five bacterial species. At 100 mg/ml leaf and seed extracts inhibited two strains. The determination of total phenolic compounds exhibited the highest phenolic content found in seed extract was 211.7 mg GAE/g extract. Analyzed the efficacy of free radical scavenging assay showed the highest antioxidant activity in seed extract at concentration 12 mg/ml. Cytotoxicity studied of extracts against human lung cancer cell lines revealed that seed extract had the most cytotoxic activity CC50 value, 4.00 µg/ml. Antioxidant activity and cytotoxicity of the extracts exhibited that the more extract concentration increase, the more activities indicated. According to the bioactivities results, the seed extract of Bauhinia purpurea is the most interesting part to investigate capability of the plant and add value for remedy aspects.
