Continuous Circulation Mechanical Fibrillation: A Novel Design To Revolutionize The Production Of Nanofibrillated Cellulose

Short Introductive summary

In our study, we have developed a new design to upgrade the Masuko Supermasscolloider from a tradition batch mode to continuous circulation. The new set-up composes of a pump-controlled circulating system, an inline viscosimeter for real-time viscosity monitoring, and a power meter to assess energy consumption during the grinding process. Our study addresses variations in feedstock characteristics and their impact on the resulting NFC properties, providing insights into the broad applicability of the circulation mechanical refining method for the scalable production of high-quality nanofibrillated cellulose.
