Regional Scale Crop and Cover Crop Biomass Monitoring at Intra-Field Resolution by Integration of Planet Data Into Agricarbon-EO
Short Introductive summary
Robust and precise crop biomass measurement methods are necessary to improve the sustainable food production policies. Approaches using remote sensing data are increasingly used to estimate crop biomass due to their advantage for regular crop monitoring. One of these approaches is AgriCarbon-EO, an innovative and functioning processing chain estimating crop biophysical values at the intrafield level over large spatial scales. Functioning with Sentinel-2 data, Agricarbon-EO has been validated for winter wheat. However, the varying availability and the resolution of those images are limiting factors for a precise and regular crop biomass estimation. This abstract presents preliminary results of a study evaluating the impact of very high resolution and revisit time satellite images (PlanetFusion) for crop biomass estimation using Agricarbon-EO, aiming to overcome those limitations. The preliminary conclusion is that the difference between the Sentinel-2 and PlanetFusion images resolutions may have an impact on the biomass estimation at intrafield scale.

Presenter's biography
I'm a PhD student in remote sensing of the environment. My thesis is a CIFRE, coordinated by NetCarbon and the CESBIO (Centre d'Etudes Spatiales de la BIOsphère). I'm studying the impacts of different satellite data (optical, radar) for the measurement of carbon sequestration in crops.
