Pyrolysis Characteristics of Pine Tree Treated with Metam Sodium: Potential of Unused Forest Residue After Pine Wilt Disease
Short Introductive summary
Pine trees, a representative tree in Korea, suffer from pine wilt disease. Once infected, pine trees are fumigated with metam sodium and left unused. This study investigates the potential of unused forest residues and pine trees treated with metam sodium by using pyrolysis gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (py-GC/MS). This study studied pyrolysis products of pine trees treated with methane sodium for further application as promising biomass resources. Single shot analysis was conducted from 300 ºC to 800 ºC, and pyrolysis products of pine tree was monitored in a lab scale experiment. There were no significant differences between the pyrolysis products of pine tree samples sprayed with metam sodium and raw pine tree samples. The results suggest that pine trees are valuable biomass resources after proper treatment, even though these are infected with pine wilt disease.
