A Critical Life Cycle Assessment for Global Warming Standardization for Biogas Systems

Short Introductive summary

This study seeks to evaluate and quantify the sustainability impacts and benefits of biogas as a sustainable bioenergy source for achieving net-zero carbon targets in a more transparent and consistent way. Our research presents two novel algebraic equations for GWP estimation, based on published literature and life cycle inventory databases. This study underscores the need for standardized GWP reporting in AD systems and highlights the challenges in carbon trading with biogas/AD systems. The models we introduce are crucial for accurate, comprehensive GWP reporting in AD systems.
