Steam Reforming of Biomass Gasification Tar using Ni-based Carbon Support Catalysts

Short Introductive summary

In the present investigation, catalytic steam reforming of biomass tar was performed using Ni-based carbon supported catalyst. Carbon black, activated carbon, and low-rank coal were used as catalyst support with various promoter and at a constant active metal, Ni, content. When Mg, Ce, K, and La were used as promoters, higher toluene conversion could be obtained under lower reaction temperature conditions than when not used. The results indicate that the carbon-supported catalysts exhibit an effective in coking resistance during the toluene steam reforming reaction.
