Synthetic fuels from biomass and hydrogen
E-Fuels Synthesis Using Green Hydrogen from an Experimental Electrolysis Plant and Co2 Captured from Biomass Conversion Processes.
Short Introductive summary
The aim of this paper, and the proposal to face this issue, is to implement the conceptual design, based on experimental data, of a valorisation process which will include the following steps: i) electricity production from a 50 kW solar photovoltaic system, ii) battery energy storage (BES), iii) charging station for electric vehicles (EV), iv) hydrogen production through electrolysis v)carbon dioxide capture using chemical absorption, and vi) captured carbon dioxide valorisation with the hydrogen produced. Steps i-iv are integrated into a microgrid, while steps v-vi are isolated from the grid and can work independently. All these steps are located at the facilities of the Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingeniería (Universidad de Sevilla). To achieve the practical development of this process, the data will be collected using two different ways. The data of the electricity available for the hydrogen production will be obtained from the project H2REGRID [ref.: TED2021-131604B-I00]. The hydrogen production and the carbon dioxide processable will be instead obtained experimentally using the following equipment present in the pilot plant in the University of Sevilla.
