In-depth presentation of the study on industrial outlook for advanced biofuels

Biomass Availability and Mobilisation Options for Advanced Biofuels

Short Introductive summary

The presentation presents the biomass resource potential for drop-in advanced biofuels for 2030 and 2050 in the EU, UK, and the Associated Third Countries. The work builds on existing biomass potential studies, but for most of the biomass potentials, new and more up-to-date base data, methodologies, and scenario assumptions were used and developed. In total 48 biomass types were covered making up the advanced biofuel group listed in Annex IX of the RED II. Results suggests that the total biomass potential range from 310, 524, 836 million dry tonnes (132, 221, 353 Mtoe). For 2050 this range is from 294, 520, 892 million tonnes (128, 222, 382 Mtoe).
