Research on and application of pyrolysis
Hydrothermal Liquefaction of Mixed Plastic Waste to Obtain Bio-Crude and a Residue Composed by Pure Poly- Olephins
Short Introductive summary
In this study the combination of hydrothermal liquefaction (HTL) and pyrolysis for the valorization of the non-recyclable part of the plastic waste was explored with the final aim of producing a high-quality pyrolysis oil and a water phase from HTL rich in organics which can be sent for production of bioplastics. The HTL is in this case considered a pre-treatment in order to decompose the paper fraction and other plstic containing heteroatoms (mainly O and N) to obtain at the end a solid residue composed exclusively by polyolephins to be sent to pyrolysis. In this way, the pyrolysis oil will not be contaminated by the oxygen and nitrogen present in cellulose,PET, PUR.
