Short Introductive summary

Concawe, in collaboration with Utrecht University and TNO, conducted a study assessing optimal lignocellulosic biomass-to-advanced-biofuel supply chains across the EU-27 and the UK using geospatial and techno-economic modelling. The work identifies economically optimal supply chains, evaluates centralised and decentralised production configurations, and highlights strategic locations for future biorefineries. The final results will be presented at EUBCE 2026, featuring detailed results and maps of optimal supply routes and strategies, associated costs, and the most promising biomass-to-biofuel pathways to meet Europe’s 2030 and 2050 transport fuel demand.
