Biomass valorization for materials and soil health
Cascade Valorisation of Cork Industry By-Products for Bio-Based Textile Applications
Short Introductive summary
This work presents a cascade valorisation strategy for cork industry by-products to develop bio-based materials for textiles. Enzymatic hydrolysis and fermentation were scaled up to convert cork powder into fermentable sugars and functional residues, enabling sustainable alternatives to petrochemical-derived compounds and supporting a circular bioeconomy.
