New uses and better valorization of different biomass sources. Market transition towards a biobased future
Market Transition towards a Bio-based future - Peat Reduction in German Hobby Gardening - Opportunities and Challenges from a Consumer Perspective
Short Introductive summary
In the HOT project, we examined the consumer perspective on bio-based peat alternatives in hobby gardening by conducting four studies within an integrated framework. Our research approach moved from an exploratory, qualitative interview study to two mixed-method surveys and finally to a quantitative choice experiment. In terms of content, our investigations covered the general practice of gardening as well as a potting soil-centred perspective. The results of the HOT project offer a comprehensive understanding of the role of potting soil in hobby gardening and consumer behavior. This forms the basis for transitioning hobby gardening towards a peat-free, bio-based future.
