Thermochemical biomass conversion
Gasification for Power, CHP and Poly-generation
Short Introductive summary
R-GAS is an innovative and highly compact entrained flow gasification technology leveraging decades of investment from United States (US) aerospace and energy sectors as well as from the US Department of Energy (DOE). Four distinct enabling technologies are brought together in the R-GAS technology – Ultra dense phase (UDP) flow and flow splitting, high mixing efficiency injectors, high heat flux reactor cooling with a water-cooled refractory-free liner, and rapid quench. The GTI Energy team continues to develop the advanced R-GAS entrained flow gasification technology for applications that involve biomass and waste feedstocks. Most recently, forest residue feedstocks have been pre-processed, characterized and tested in the 20 tons per day R-GAS pilot testing facility at the GTI gasification complex in Des Plaines, IL.
