Biomass implementation in markets
Evaluation of Innovative Technologies Providing Biomethane - Economic Analysis of Scale Ups Plants and Market Uptake
Short Introductive summary
This work adresses the cost analysis of the scale up plants of five innovative biomethane technologies and pathways. The results consider cost mitigation strategies for major cost drivers as well as the assessment of the supply chain of biomethane and the by-products to support market implementation in Europe. The economic evaluation is based on the technical evaluation and process modelling. Based on the demo plants from SEMPRE-Bio a scale-up strategy was developed in order to be able to make site-independent statements for the market entry of the developed technologies and to identify most interesting value chains. The scale up varies different plant sizes (125 - 250 – 500 - 1.000 - 2.000 m3/h biomethane output) to consider small - medium – large scale plant sizes reflecting the market. The evaluation is based on relevant economic parameters collected and verified with the project partners to estimate CAPEX and OPEX of scale up plants. The assessment includes determining the specific costs of biomethane (LCOE in €/m3 biomethane) of scale up plants.
