Novel Optimized Low Temperature Tar Reforming Catalyst in Tablet Form for Use in Hot Gas Filters for Syngas Cleaning in Biomass Gasification
Short Introductive summary
A new catalytic filter element design for energy-efficient hot gas cleaning of biomass-derived syngas by using tablets of a novel tar reforming catalyst in two dimensions - 4 x 4 and 5 x 3 mm - optimized to the low temperature operation of 650°C is presented. Catalytic activity results in model tar reforming in the presence of different H2S contents and varied gas hourly space velocities of both catalysts provide a layout basis for a more compact tar reforming unit in hot gas cleaning to be able to reduce costs and broaden the application range of biomass gasification for energy, hydrogen and fuels production.

Presenter's biography
After his PhD on sol-gel chemistry and nanotechnology, Mr. Nacken has developed catalytic filter elements in the ceramic industry before developing at C&CS catalysts and chemical specialities GmbH a novel SER catalyst and on this basis a tar reforming catalyst for hot gas cleaning.
