Sustainable integrated agricultural management practices - Prospects of a sustainable production of biomass
Cultivation of Industrial Hemp in Rotation for the Decarbonizing the Economy in the La Vera Region Extremadura, Spain
Short Introductive summary
This study is part of the theme "Sustainable resources for the decarbonization of the economy", within the sub-theme "Sustainable integrated agricultural practices", since industrial hemp is a crop used to increase sustainability and ecosystem services, in addition to being a crop that can be used in rotation with the use of its biomass in construction. The agronomic performance of different industrial hemp varieties for grain and fiber production was studied. For the study, 2 hectares of hemp were sown in 2024 and 2025 at two different locations in the La Vera region (Extremadura, Spain). The varieties used in the trial were Futura 75 and Mona 16, both registered in the European Union Register of Industrial Hemp Varieties.
