Comparative Analysis of Carbon Sequestration and Credit Potential under Different Land Use Systems in the Vindhyan Region, Uttar Pradesh
Short Introductive summary
This study evaluates the carbon sequestration and credit potential of diverse land use systems in the Vindhyan region of eastern Uttar Pradesh, India. Eight systems, including agroforestry, agricultural, and forest types, were analyzed for biomass carbon stocks and CO2 sequestration following IPCC guidelines. Results indicated that forest and agroforestry systems, particularly mixed forests and Bael-based agroforestry, demonstrated significantly higher sequestration and carbon credit values compared to conventional crops, highlighting their importance in climate change mitigation and sustainable land management.
