From Biomass to Thermoplastic: Liquefied Woody Biomass for Circular Thermoplastic Composites and Coatings

Short Introductive summary

Bio-based plastics, owing to expensive feedstocks such as edible sugars (that ultimately competes with food production) and comprehensive processing consisting of monomer purification and controlled polymerization, have not yet been able to replace 1% of the market share as compared to fossil based plastics that still dominates. Our research work fills the gap by choosing abundant and cheap lignocellulosic waste stream subjected to simple chemical process such as liquefaction to produce fully recyclable materials.
