Carbon-Supported Nickel Catalysts for CO2 Methanation: Influence of Surface Chemistry on Catalytic Activity

Short Introductive summary

This work investigates biochar- and activated carbon-supported nickel catalysts for CO2 methanation, a key process in Power-to-Gas systems coupling carbon capture with renewable hydrogen utilization. Biochars derived from various feedstocks and pyrolysis temperatures were activated and thoroughly characterized to assess how surface chemistry influences metal-support interaction and catalytic performance. The study provides insights into the rational design of biobased catalyst supports for efficient CO2 conversion and synthetic methane production. This research is ongoing, and the latest findings will be presented and discussed at the conference.
