Short Introductive summary

Sewage sludge management is a growing environmental challenge in Europe. To address it, B-Plas sbrl developed the B-Sludge module, a modular, scalable process that upcycles wastewater sludge, reducing its disposal volumes and costs. The process combines thickening, Hydrothermal Carbonization (180–200°C), and filter press separation, producing a hydrochar (up to 60% dry solids) and a carbon-rich liquid for reuse. Tested in Northern Italy, it achieved an 83% sludge reduction, demonstrating a sustainable, circular approach to sludge management.
