Biomass and waste combustion as sustainable strategy for decarbonization
Energy Production by Thermal Degradation of Waste Biomass from the Anaerobic Treatment of Analgesic Pharmaceutics
Short Introductive summary
Digestate from the anaerobic digestion of wastewater polluted with pharmaceutical analgesics was energy valorized by drying-combustion in a conical spouted bed reactor, provided with an internal device, a nonporous draft tube. Local heat transfer coefficients were experimentally determined in the beds of digestate in the conical reactor. The thermal treatment of the digestate was performed in a conical reactor provided with an internal non-porous draft tube in the spouted bed regime at temperature between 450-550 ÂșC. The energy efficiencies of beds of digestate were determined from the concentrations of the flue gas monitored with the time. The required temperature for the anaerobic digestion of wastewater with analgesic pharmaceutics is provided by the exhaust hot gas that circulates through that through the jacket that surrounds the conical spouted bed. Energy exploiting of the digestate improves carbon balance, contributes to zero-waste and circular economy with a positive social impact.
