Bioeconomy without borders: Assessing EU’s environmental footprint
Short Introductive summary
This study assesses the environmental footprint of the EU-27’s bioeconomy in 2022, including impacts both inside and outside the EU and focusing on GHG emissions, land use change (LUC) emissions, land use, and scarcity-weighted water use. Using an environmentally extended multi-regional input-output (EE-MRIO) model, we quantify both production- and consumption-based impacts to capture global supply chain pressures.
