Towards Comprehensive Biodiversity Conservation: A Global Scenario Perspective
Short Introductive summary
Biodiversity and healthy ecosystems provide services important for human well-being, such as biomass provisioning and carbon sequestration. To stop the rapid loss of biodiversity, more insight is needed into the results of different actions on the state of biodiversity. We present global scenarios with diverse strategies and levels of effort to conserve biodiversity, ranging from the extension of protected areas to shifts in consumption patterns and climate action. Our results show that while each of these measures contributes to slowing down the rate of biodiversity loss, a combination of all these measures is needed to halt the decline of biodiversity.
