A System Perspective on Accelerating the Biobased Plastics Transition in the Netherlands
Short Introductive summary
The transition toward biobased and circular plastics is critical to achieving a climate-neutral and resource-efficient European economy. Despite promising technological developments, the Dutch biobased plastics sector remains small compared to the fossil-based incumbent industry. This study, conducted within the National Growth Fund program BioBased Circular (BBC), applies a systems perspective to identify systemic barriers, feedback loops, and leverage points shaping the evolution of the Dutch biobased plastics industry.
