Biomass Gasification for H2 Production: In-bed Syngas upgrading with Enhanced Dolomite
Short Introductive summary
Production of H2 from renewable sources is receiving increasing attention thanks to its promising potential as an energy carrier for the decarbonization of production sectors not easily electrified. Several methods can be adopted for this purpose, among which is biomass gasification. This process in fact allows the production of H2 with the simultaneous valorization of residual biomass and at zero CO2 net emission. The current contribution concerns the development of a catalyst for increasing the H2 content in the produced gas from a steam/oxygen biomass gasification process by using an enhanced dolomite, enriched in iron, to be used for simultaneous CO2 sorbent and WGS catalyst. From TPR analysis at 950°C, experimental results indicated that only for Fe5%/Dolomite sample, three different transition phases were observed.
