Short Introductive summary

The increasing demand for sustainable materials has accelerated research into the valorization of lignocellulosic biomass, owing to its abundance and low cost, making it a promising renewable carbon source. However, there remains a challenge to develop material by utilizing the entire complex components of biomass while ensuring their thermal-mechanical properties and recyclability. The objective of this research work is to develop sustainable, circular and cost-effective thermoplastics or composites from woody biomass. This study investigates the liquefaction behavior and product characteristics of woody biomass as a potential source for bio-based composite and coating precursors.

Presenter's biography

My name is Shikha Gupta. I am pursuing my PhD at University of Twente in the Netherlands. My research focuses upon the thermochemical conversion of woody biomass into thermoplastic composites and coatings with an aim of driving the transition towards bio-based, circular and sustainable materials.
