Biomass Pathways for Indonesia’s Industry Sector: Maximizing the Potential of Waste and its Governance

Short Introductive summary

Industrial fuel-switching to biomass is accelerating in Indonesia as many of multinational companies have commited to coal phase out and it influence its Indonesia’s suppliers, yet “carbon-neutral at the stack” narratives risk overstating benefits. A nationally consistent, lifecycle based GHG reduction threshold is needed so industrial heat decarbonization is both credible and scalable.
