Exergoeconomic & Exergoenvironmental Analyses to navigate technology landscape of Biofuel Synthesis from Waste using Decision Support Platform for Resource Optimization and Sustainable Energy (DSP4ROSE)
Short Introductive summary
The industry is in need of a comprehensive approach for technology assessments at both low and high TRL in the domain of emerging policy-driven markets. This contribution discusses feasibility of decision-making based on Exergo-economic KPIs available in DSP4ROSE (Decision Support Platform for Resource Optimization and Sustainable Energy) developed at Kanadevia Inova and used to resolve strategic, technological and environmental dilemmas around the waste valorization business via time-variable holistic assessments. Eight processing routes are pre-selected to match the subsidy scheme of EU in the e- and bio-fuel domain and are characterized by varying processing complexity and TRL. They have been modeled and compared in terms of: Critical Resource Dependency, Process Efficiency, Cost of Investment and Biomass Utilization. The optimum combination of indicators for in navigating the technology landscape under uncertainty is discussed and the the problematic related to the difference between the inherent "resource value" and the monetary value is stated succinctly.
