Supporting SAF deployment in Europe: Operational impact of the EU SAF Clearing House
Short Introductive summary
The EU SAF Clearing House acts as a central support hub for sustainable aviation fuel developers, providing coordinated technical, regulatory and sustainability guidance through four specialised service pillars to help advance new fuel pathways toward deployment. By offering rapid, iterative prescreening of SAF candidates, targeted ASTM?D4054 support, and clear sustainability and regulatory guidance, underpinned by close collaboration with OEMs and an international network of test houses, the initiative strengthens early?stage decision?making and improves data quality across diverse SAF projects. Initial outcomes include stronger and less costly early?stage readiness among SAF developers, more efficient OEM review processes and consensus on best practices regarding key D4054 properties determination. Together, these advances lay a solid foundation for scaling SAF production and accelerating deployment.
