Fuel production from biomass and hydrogen

EBIOCARB : A National Research Program for a Roadmap towards Sustainable Production of E-biofuels

Short Introductive summary

The program ’Sustainable Hybrid Fuels: EBIOCARB’ focuses on the production of synthetic fuels from biomass and hydrogen produced by water electrolysis, or from high-temperature co-electrolysis of biogenic carbon dioxide and water vapor, intended for aviation and maritime transport. Its objective is the development, the integration and the connection of all the technological building blocks necessary to construct optimized production chains for e-biofuels, using a wide variety of feedstocks (flexibility of the synthesis process) while maximizing the valorization of energy and material flows to reduce production costs. EBIOCARB will contribute to addressing the technological, economic, environmental, and societal challenges associated with the development of these technologies, as well as their deployment on a national scale, taking into account the biophysical, socio-economic, and historical realities of the territories.
