LIFE CHANDELIER - EnhanCed veHicular biomethANe proDuction at small-mEdium scale using Lignocellulosic agrI-food wastE in Rural areas

Short Introductive summary

The LIFE CHANDELIER project demonstrates a decentralised anaerobic digestion solution to produce vehicular biomethane from lignocellulosic agro-food residues in rural areas. By integrating thermo-mechanical pre-treatment, flexible co-digestion, and membrane upgrading technologies, the project aims to increase methane yields and improve process stability. The full-scale demonstration in Valderrobres (Spain) is expected to increase biogas production by up to 20–30% and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, supporting rural energy resilience and transport decarbonisation.
